About GROW

The story behind GROW:

The concept was developed by first generation grower Amber Rae of @BrunetteFarmette, who happens to be a big fan of Rosebud’s Tees.  She wanted to create awareness around the issues and barriers that young farmers currently face through a powerful (fashion) statement.

Her message?  “We need young farmers, and we need them fast.”  As the average age of the US farmer approaches 60, the staggering rate at which we need to produce food is on the rise.  More specifically, young farmers need to become more productive and efficient than ever before to yield double the crop by 2050, when the world’s population will achieve an unprecedented 35% increase to feed 9 billion people.

The problem?  Beginning farm percentages continue to drop.  Through her own experiences Amber attributes this to difficultly to availability in securing farmland (over 50% is tied up in transition to the new generation), lack of educational support and resources, and financial limitations which can include student loan debt or initial access to capital.

Enter the National Young Farmer’s Coalition.  NYCF is one of the few organizations that has successfully influenced government agricultural practices and policies through the voice of young farmers.  Check out their mission and vision and learn how they are also providing education and resources to young growers to ensure success.  One of their important efforts includes the current push to classify farming as a public service, which would influence student loan forgiveness for farmers and ranchers.

So join the movement and help us GROW the power of the young voice while promoting sustainably GROWn food for all.  Together we can GROW a new generation of farmers!

Why GROW:

When you purchase GROW apparel, we donate 30% of the proeeds to The National Young Farmers Coalition, an independent 501(c)3 non-profit organization working to support the future of farming for young people.  The coalition works with farmers, consumers, organizations, and government to tackle the many challenges that young, independent, and sustainable farmers face in their first years operating a farm business.

Rosebud’s Tees is proud to support fellow young (female) growers through funky farm fresh apparel!  Whether you grow produce and feed crop, or tend to a backyard garden, proudly display your love and commitment to GROW and help us support the next generation of food warriors.
