A few months after vet school graduation, and right before I launched Rosebud’s, my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 triple negative breast cancer.
She was 52 when she passed, and losing her left me questioning everything I thought I knew about success in life.
I had been working 60-70 hour weeks as a veterinarian,, answering the phone all hours of the night, and running on little-to-no sleep. I wasn’t seeing my friends or family much, and I often had to bow out of plans due to work.
I asked myself…
Why is it that we work years of our life away in a conventional “stable” job missing out on time with friends and family, missing fun trips, missing lots of life’s adventures, only to wake up years later and wonder where the time went?!
I came to the conclusion that life’s too dang short. And I started to redefine what success meant to me.
The flexibility to take a spontaneous trip across the country
Working on something that lights me up
My best advice for those looking to redefine their version of success:
Pay attention to what brings you joy. Then follow your bliss.
